My CPU = T9400 (2 cores, 2.53GHz).
![]()
Code Name: Penryn (What's supposed to be named Montevina?)
Core Speed: 1596.1 MHz (tf!?)
Please tell me I don't know what I'm talking about. It will make me a very happy man. I'm really worried they sent a fault processor or something![]()

Montevina is just a platform, not the name given to hardware.
You are viewing the CPU page --> Penryn (T9400)
Thats EIST kicking in....(Speedstep)
Its normal, and when you will load the CPU cores (say with Orthos), the multiplier will go upto 9.5x. -
It is likely that the CPU is operating at that clock speed to conserve power - test the CPU's stepping by going to the battery icon in the taskbar and selecting performance, or running a demanding program like wPrime. The clock speed should jump up to 2.5GHz. This technology is known as Intel SpeedStep and can be read in detail here.

Thank you. WHEW! I learn something new everyday. EIST, cool stuff.
Multiplier jumped to x10.0 max and got 1506.6/2000 CPUMark rating on Passmark with stock computer. That sucks =/ -
Oh, don't worry about benchmark numbers. Real-world performance is what matters.

Hopefully when I do a full clean and remove all this BS on it (theres so many processes on here, wth!) everything will perform better. Tweaks, removals, uninstalls and installing 64-bit to activate the 4GB of memory should help everything come together.
Then I can finally do the review for this thing! -
Your processor is a 2nd generation Penryn chip which sits on the Montevina centrino platform
Centrino = a combination of Intel cpu, chipset & wireless for improved mobility blah blah blah..
Whats up with these CPU-Z readings?
