now, I think 14.1 widescreen and 15.4" widescreen notebook are appear everywhere. Many major notebook seller have a choice for these kind of screens.
But I just curious about why 17" is not appear much.. well, maybe today is not the time for 17" monitor..
In my opinion, I think bigger screen have some advantage.. especailly, more visual sight no matter which kind of work you want to do.. but the disadvantage is.. take more battery.. shorten battery life time, heavy and expensive..
anybody can expect when 17" widescreen gonna be boom?

most people prefer their laptops to be small and portable, and keep their bigger desktop setup at home. if anything, you can expect more small laptops. the only 17" and bigger ones are usually workhorse laptops (desktop replacement / hardcore gaming etc).

Yep,WeelyTM is right. It's about practicality. Bigger the screen size, more the weight. Now even if manufacturers find a way to reduce the weight to something like a 14.1" (that's going to take a long time,IMO) a 17" is a 17". It's going to occupy more space and is not supposed to happen. Unless you find a foldable screen that folds into something really small,it's going to stay like this. I personally don't have a problem carrying it around so I'd get it. It depends on personal use too.

that's mean nowaday 14.1 widescreen notebook has enough capable for its own demand?
Thanks for reply ^^ -
Yeah. People who want thin and light/ultraportables don't have graphic intensive applications in mind. 15.4" is the standard for that.

Take, for example, the Dell Latitude D620, which is a nice little 14" widescreen notebook. It offers the same great processors as a 17" one (Core Duos), 256MB Quadro (for the higher end ones at least), 1-2GB of RAM for a reasonable price, Hard Drive as much as 100GB/7200 RPM, and a DVDRW.
The only thing it's lacking is the screen size and maybe the very highest end pro notebook card. But for anything other than gaming, it's excellent. And when you're using it at home, you might as well pick up a nice monitor to go with it.
