As many of You may know - there is interesting solution from Pixel qi company - screens that use present manufacturing processes to produce displays readable in the direct sunlight, e-ink mode emulation (great for reading) in mono, and color solution as present screens. All of this with substantial savings in energy consumption.

I was wondering if any of You have noticed any plans from Big manufacturers about this technology? Maybe they are preparing something like this on their own? Maybe they are waiting for Qualcomm's Mirasol solution?

For now only 10,1 screens are available, and some tablets with 3qi screens are in vaporware stage. Soon 7' screens will be presented, but what about mid-size notebooks and desktop screens?

Maybe Asus will be first? Maybe Toshiba?

There may be some business issues, and maybe accountants are counting on more revenues from current tft technology, but in this economy - only innovations are driving force for the businesses.

If we won't buy any more power-hungry, useless when outdoors screens, maybe they will start thinking interms of real innovations, not only re-designing old stuff. Then maybe they will stop whining about poor sales etc.
