I just read that there are upcoming Core i7 processors classified as ULV (ultra-low voltage), the i7-620UM and i7-640UM as part of the Arrandale family. I hear Arrandale processors will not be out until early 2010 and thus notebooks with this platform as well.
I am wondering what machines these processors would wind up into. In the ultraportable segment, we currently have netbooks with the Atom processor and now slightly more expensive 11.6" notebooks with CULV processors based on the Core 2 Duo architecture.
So would i7 ULV notebooks replace the current CULV ones or be in a new higher-end market altogether? Would they be released as high-end ultraportables like the Vaio TT was ($1800+ MSRP)?
Wikipedia states these processors as being released in Q4 2009. I am thinking of buying a notebook for my trip to India and always like to buy the latest. I would buy it just before I leave in late December and wondering if we will see these notebooks out by then? I'm betting most likely not and they wouldn't be cheap anyways.

Doubt you will get it into your hands until late Feb/early Mar 2010.

January, when they and Pinetrail Atom's are announced at CES. Also there is a Core i5-520UM but it is slower compared to the the Core i7-620UM/640UM. I am holding off to see what new 11.6" and 12" culv machines there will be, hopefully the Acer 1810 can get a refresh really soon

I am pretty sure the Core i5 will be a dual core, and I think the i7 be dual core, but will we get lucky and see ULV quads?

Not this or next year...
