I've been ready for an ssd for a couple months now. Are any new SSD's going to be released soon, perhaps with CES around the corner?

Of the current lot Corsair Nova is at the top of my list. Solid performance and easily the best power consumption. Looking for something that will beat it or just going to get that.

I'm very interested in this question also. I have a glimpse on what CPU/RAM/GPU I want and what to wait for, but the SSD I really have no idea.

reading between the line buried in Anand's post about the new Intel SSD 310, it seems that we are not going to see any new surprise for at least 4-6 months, at least not from Intel or Sandforce. Not sure about Indilinx/JM etc.

So, it was supposed to be Q4 2010, now could it be Q1 2011? or will take even more?

I think I see some where that it was initially to be available to public in Feb/2011 so a delay(which usually means rework) of a few months would not surprise me.

Though on the other hand, I am seeing more and more rebate for the x25m line. Just saw the 160GB @ 370 after MIR

Meh. The quote are only saying that since G3 is not here, it`s delayed. Nobody knows how long; could be announced at CES, could be several months.
Sucks if you are right though...

ETA was Q1 of 2011, maybe along side with SB? Same was said about SF-2000

It's supposed to come in after the SB introduction. I'd expect to see it in Q2 2011.

sanforce sf-2000 series controllers were in production last month (w/ 100k iops and 500-ish MBps I/O) ... the ssds based off of those might be ready in time for CES (in fact I posted a link to an article in taiwan about such a pci-ex16 card that tops out over 4 GBps on the SSD sticky thread) -- but they will be enterprise class drives at first, I imagine.

    May :s

I'm honestly only waiting this for prices to drop. I've been prices to drop for years anyway... guess I'll just go buy one and enjoy it!

Supposedly, the 25nm Crucial C400/C400v will arrive in Q1 2011.

I'm waiting for a drop in prices rather than increased performance. I've heard Intel's G3 SSDs will have lower cost per gb, but when the G2 series first came out prices soared. Right now I can get a 120gb Intel G2 for around $240, which isn't too bad, but ideally I would like 160gb for under $300. Playing the waiting game sucks; I'll probably make a decision after CES.

This is exactly what i hope will happen with G3, im expecting the 300gb to be around $500 MSRP, matching the G2 160GB version, while the G3 160gb im expecting around $300.

The Intel G2's were effectively already below $300 last week.

    See:
Intel X25-M SATA Solid-State Drive Kit, 160GB w/ Adapter at Memory Express Computers

That was with a $50 instant savings in addition to the $90 mail in rebate that is still available.

Not good enough for me to order/ship them though.

The prices are tempting but what is in the back of my mind is 'imagine what is coming for them to be offering these prices now'.

    I expect a 300GB G3 around the $300 range - we'll see if I'm right.

I hope your right, but i doubt it, hoping almost double the size almost half the price seems highly unlikely, probably double the size for the same price or half the price for same size is what im hopping to see.

If they do that, then I'll probably buy it for my next laptop -- but $1/GB sounds a little optimistic.

technically possible as each full generation die shrink should be able to reduce the cost by 1/2 (or double the gate count) but whether it reach that depends not on the cost but the market.
