As stated in the title, when can we expect this standard to be released for notebooks? I know it was announced earlier this year and would be backwards compatible with the current standard.
The reason I am excited is because of the much higher bandwidth it offers (2 to 10X the current) and a chance to have decent external GPUs on laptops, turn a smaller laptop into a gaming one. That's what I'm really hoping for period.![]()
The Asus XG Station will probably never come out and not too sure about the ATI XGP since it will be limited to AMD notebooks only. I'd like a solution for Intel notebooks.

It looks like it won't come out until 2009 at the earliest, and I may buy a new notebook by then. I really look forward to powerful external graphics for notebooks...... -
I have no idea, but I am sure someone will ask the same question about expresscard 3.0 when expresscard 2.0 comes out
You should check out the hybrid graphics systems if you want to have balance between onboard and dedicated graphics.
