I read an NBR article way back in june that said that in mid july intel was going to cut the prices of their single core cpus by 60%.

    Well........ IT'S SEPTEMBER 1ST AND THE P4 670 IS STILL OVER 600$

Does anybody know what the heck is taking them so long?

Most of the P4's are practically free. They have made a ton of price cuts. Don't know about the 670 in particular though.

I think it would be very appropriate to leave God's name out of it. Thanks.

massive price drops on P4 in July, and some more on 23rd August.

this weekend brought the 4 series mobile CPU's into price parity making way for some price culling in october of 1000 and 2000 series. Again, making way for the (now coming through) 7000 and 5000 series.

Don't expect much availability on Merom though, 5500 and 5600 are in serious supply contraints and the last I checked, there were only 120 7200 available in EMEA.

Roadmap is looking bleak for none Yonah and Merom. I expect M and 4 series to be gone in the year.

The new vibrant competition between AMD and Intel is great for consumers - price cuts are now monthly and new products becoming reality at least once a quarter.
