Just wondering, as I need a new performance laptop hard drive and I noticed that the 3200BEKT has been out for more than a year. The current Seagate 7200.4 drives came out more recently, but their performance is about the same.

It should be out before 2010.

Get the Hitachi 500GB instead, more power efficient than WD.

I'm waiting for the Hitachi 7K500 as well. Pretty sour experience with the WD3200BEKT. First one had noise and DOA issues. Next two both produced unacceptable amounts of vibration (which the first one didn't have). WD's quality doesn't seem to be so great.

I had nothing but good experiences with my last Scorpio Black (320GB), and Western Digital hard drives in general.

If the Hitachi does well in performance benchmarks, I'm okay with that. Right now the 3200BEKT wins or ties in most categories except for read and write throughput, which Seagate is better at.
