When your battery is fully charged, do you unplugthe adapter and run on battery or do you leave the laptop plugged in? Is it bad to leave the laptop plugged in after the battery is fully charged?

Leaving it plugged in will not harm the battery. The battery charges to 100% and then does not charge again until you either restart the computer or unplug and then plug in the laptop again. The battery will slowly discharge on its own, but it will not recharge unless one of these two events occur, even if it continues to report that it is at 100% charge.

Thank you. I just got a new laptop and wasn't sure if it was bad to keep it plugged in while using it if the battery is fully charged. TY!

What harms a battery while leaving it in while running on AC power is the heat generated by your laptop. Most battery compartments are directly behind the cpu/gpu heatsink which means its a prime for serious heat deterioration.

If it's for long periods of time, you can take out the battery and just run on AC power. Otherwise it's best to leave it plugged in, you run through fewer charge cycles (since you're not constantly charging/discharging the battery so much).

I personally leave it plugged in so I can grab and go. It won't harm the laptop unless you've ignored the recalls and happen to have an exploding-type battery (sounds so much better than leaky). It's less than ideal for the battery, but worse is losing your work because the power cable got snagged by a passerby.

This must be the most frequently asked and answered question on the site. Perhaps a "sticky" would be in order at this point?

i take it out.. usually , i'm gaming or watching videos so heat build up in the Dv5t is high so i remove it to not damage the battery.. but u can keep it in depending on how hot ur laptop becomes or what u do..
