I have HP DV 5000 which it's two year olds. I want to upgrade it CPU from 1.60 dual core to 2.0ghz or more.

If possible, I want to upgrade wireless network adapter, too. But I'm not sure my chipset can support that.

Where I can find the upgrade paths please? and how do I can check the maximum spec of my laptop.?

Do you currently have an AMD or Intel CPU?

If you have an Intel processor, you'll have a 940 series chipset and can probably upgrade to any of these chips:

    Core 2 Duo T5200 1600 2048 533
    Core 2 Duo T5300 1733 2048 533

    Core 2 Duo T5500 1667 2048 667
    Core 2 Duo T5600 1833 2048 667

    Core 2 Duo T7200 2000 4096 667
    Core 2 Duo T7400 2166 4096 667
    Core 2 Duo T7600 2333 4096 667

Laptop wireless cards are actually pretty standard fare across most machines; I don't think it relies on chipset support. Should be just plug and play ignoring that you have to upgrade the drivers.

You can usually find most of this stuff at a good price on ebay. It's definitely cheaper than buying directly from HP.

For the wireless card you should get it from HP or get a used one that came from a HP. Your computer's BIOS probably has a "whitelist" of cards that are allowed. If the card you get is not on the list it won't work. See here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=17317

I believe the reason for this is to ensure the computer's FCC compliance.

Thank you very much commander wolf and jimbob83.

I did roughly check in Ebay and found that

    Core 2 Duo T7200 is around $100 - 150
    Core 2 Duo T7400 is around $200 - 250
    Core 2 Duo T7600 is around $400+++

one more thing. currently, I used dv5000 with Core Duo T2050 (1.60hz). I use RAM 2 Ghz with FSB 533 Hz. That's mean if I want to change my CPU then I need to upgrade my RAM to take an advantage of FSB 667 Mhz. Do I understand correct?

You don't need to upgrade the memory. The chipset should automatically adjust the appropriate memory straps to compensate for the different clock speeds.

What exactly are you trying to find by punching in "DIY Moble CPU Upgrade"? That could mean anything, especially to Google...

    Oh sorry, Commander Wolf.

Maybe I wrote it not clearly. I mean I try to search for a web page with an article about upgrade notebook HP Pavillion DV5227TX series (I just found out recently my model is DV5200, not DV5000 but it's a Core Duo 1.60, T2050).

If I can find a web page with an article then I can read it throughly and learn it before I can decide whether to upgrade my laptop or not. I need to evaluate risk and benefit of upgrade since the upgrade laptop is far different than upgrade pc. Then, if I can see an webpage that teach me a DIY like http://www.notebookreview.com/default.asp?newsID=4038 but for DV52xx series, it would be great!

I google with many keyword but I still cannot find a hit for the DIY mobile DV52xx cpu upgrade.
