I am considering purchasing a 256 gb Crucial M4 for my soon-to-arrive new laptop Dell XPS L502X. OCZ is said to be unreliable, so Vertex 3 goes out of the list, I guess. INtel SSD 510 seems to perform worse than Crucial M4 on tests and they are more expensive. So I need to find an online store that will ship internationally (to Turkey to be exact). Please help me find this store...

Any feedback on Crucial M4 is welcome also...

    Thanks for your help.

Crucial M4 can be a good choice but I wouldn't write of the Vertex 3 so quickly. A lot of dutch users have one and I haven't seen one complaint sofar. I've seen a lot of impressive benchmark results though.

Actually I don't know much about SSDs, but up till now I haven't seen a single positive user review about Vertex series; all I have seen are ultra-positive benchmaarks. M4 did perform almost as well as Vertex 3 on those tests, so I thought it would be satisfactory both in means of performance and reliability. Plus it's 150 $ cheaper...

What exactly was the fault with the Vertex 2 SSD that people shun this brand now, other than, of course, the OCZ company baldly lying about the specs of it?

That's pretty much it. Well, the 25 nm versions of the Vertex 2 also bench slower than the 34 nm versions, which is how they got caught in the first place, but yes, pretty much the only reason people shun OCZ is the lying.

They were lying partially, as most manufacturers of most products do.

At $150 I'd get the M4 too. Are you sure about those prices though? Seems unrealistic.

Vertex 1 has had many reliability issues but it was a different controller (Indilinx). Vertex 3 reliability is unknown.

Still a larger difference than I would expect.

The difference may work out smaller once these stores actually have stock.

A quad SSD RAID setup out of those would be nice. It's only $2,200. Would you still quad RAID all four of them? I think it'd render RAID useless.

I guess I might just go ahead and get the Vertex 3, because I don't want to wait till 26th of April for the M4 to be available.
