Hey, I don't know if this is in the wrong section or not but I'm interested in building my own laptop just like always do with my desktops. Problem is I can't find any online stores where I can just choose what I want and buy it without having to sign up or register or whatever. By register, I don't mean fill out some information, address, blah blah, I mean like call and make a business agreement register. I would appreciate any help on this, thanks in advance.

purelog1c. Barebones in the notebook world refers to a notebook that is missing one or more critical parts needed to be a fully functioning and complete notebook. I purchased my notebook as barebones as it can get, but it probably takes me no more than five minutes to install the CPU, RAM, and HDD. Notebooks are by far limited in terms of component variety compared to desktops. However, if you can find the parts for cheaper, especially the CPU, it will be an interesting and money saving project.

For example, you can start here. http://www.rjtech.com/

Come pay us a visit in the Clevo forum some time.

Building your laptop and buying a barebone laptop are two different things

Those who purchase a barebone can select there components which fit a particular model. Its not exactly building a laptop since it takes all of an hour to do.

Building your own laptop is a completely different ballgame. I have done it myself, and it is something I do not recommend people doing unless they are highly skilled with working with metal, power tools, electronics, soldering, welding, etc.

If you buy from RJTECH, they only give you warranty for a year. Everything out side of one year is provided by random field service places all over the US. RJTECH's one year warranty is good, but their services through repairmaster are polar opposites. Repairmaster is highly unreliable, and known for stealing components, and not fixing any of the problems. Just google repairmaster

ebay has lots of barebones. I've bought on ebay.
I've also bought on RJTECH. no probs with them. nice prices. expensive shipping though.
also beware of the graphic cards... read the stickys. it's not like desktops...
