So I tried amazon and newegg but there are no mobile CPU/GPUs for sale. So where do you guys get your mobile chips? And also I was thinking since it is possible to change CPU/GPUs in most gaming laptops, then would it be cheaper to just get a base model for example a 2630QM then upgrade it to a 2920XM aftermarket since the upgrade costs a little less than $1000? Or say getting a 6870 GPU then purchase a 6990 aftermarket for example.

    Thanks

Uhh most GPU can't be upgraded, only gaming laptops and mobile workstations. CPU's are plentiful on Ebay. GPU as stated, MXM upgrade, our NBR Marketplace and Ebay.

Lol I guess it answers my 2nd question..For the first time an upgrade with the seller is cheaper than an aftermarket self upgrade lol..Too bad, I really want that 2920XM.. :(

OP are you talking about the notebook in your signature?

As said most cannot be upgraded unless it has a MXM slot, even then the choices are very limited.

Theres also the external GPU (eGPU) but its not really a practical option.

Nope, not the notebook in my sig, I am familiar with which notebooks allow and do not allow the changing of CPU/GPU. I was just hoping aftermarket CPU/GPU would be cheaper than opting for an upgrade by the dealer, since RAM/HDD are massively overpriced, I thought the CPU/GPU upgrades were as well, but the prices in rjtech are more expensive than the upgrade by the seller..the 2920XM costs $1200 while the upgrade by say Alienware is around $900.. :(

You can get an unlocked "kind of 2920xm ES" on ebay for about $330, it has an earlier stepping and is clocked slightly lower than a regular 2920xm, but unlocked as well.
