I've been searching the world (wide web) for a tiny little ribbon strip connector that connects the mousepad to the motherboard. Mine seems to be broken and I get no mouse action. :(

    Win XP
    Gateway 450ROG

I don't think any manufactures stock the mousepad-mobo connector. Usually they come as one unit along with the mousepad and palm rest. You should contact Gateway and ask if they have the parts.

I would take the laptop apart and physicaly try and reconnect the cable.
If you can remove the cable that would be great. You can use a voltmeter to check to see if each of the wires are actually connected properly.

Also make sure to uninstall and reinstall your touchpad drivers, that may be the root of the problem.
