Any clue?
I recently got a HP HDX18T and am adding a second hard drive for raid. The first one has this bumper/cover thing installed. I talked to HP, and they don't sell it individually. The guy told me to talk to whoever I'm buying my hard drive from as if they'd have them. I've never seen these sold anywhere. So...where do I get it? I'm going to buy my second WB Scorpio Black 250Gb drive from Newegg, and I highly doubt it'll come with one, lol.![]()
Also, the SATA attachment cable between the hard drive and laptop, will that come with a new drive or is that something I'll also have to purchase separate? I'm guessing it's separate. My old laptop is a Dell 9300 that uses IDE. It just has a slide in bay for the hard drive, no cable but rather mechanical docking to a fixed connector. Where do I get this small of a version of cable?

when you buy a laptop harddrive, you get the harddrive, some packing peanuts an esd bad and a nice cardboard box.
The rail things you are talking about is called a harddrive caddy.
The sata cable is going to be referred to as a harddrive connector or interposer.
These two items will not come with the harddrive, and newegg does not sell them.
The only place to get them from, is Hewlett Packard, or ebay, or if your lucky an etailer has them online where you can buy them.
Hp will only give you two caddy's+ cables when you buy the system with two harddrives. They get you when you want to put a second drive in, cause th company, dell, hp, gateway charge an arm and a leg for the caddy + interposer.
Is there any model numbers on the harddrive caddy which came with your system?
