I wonder where it is? Hopefully it releases soon we are all looking forward to raid 0 TRIM support. Anyone know when it is releasing?

I read here that it may not be till quarter 2 in 2012
Finally Intel brings TRIM to SSDs in RAID arrays -
Heres some release notes with Microsoft( M$)-Windows 8 support.
Intel® Rapid Storage Technology
Looking for the alpha drivers,,well, not yet they have to be corrected.
Cheers

Heres Intel Non-Official and Non-WHQL Intel RST v11.5.0.1111 Alpha
in case you want to roll the dice. As to when Intel is going to rtm these, unknown.

You can get them here...
Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology Driver for Windows 8 (64-bit) Beta - ThinkPad -
Anyone try them out yet? Had someone say a BIOS update was req'd but I swear I thought some ppl had already installed (w. out any BIOS update) and no one's had any issues.
-
http://forum.notebookreview.com/ali...-beta-11-1-0-1006-ssd-raid0-trim-support.html
Below is a screen shot showing where support is mentioned in the RST documentation.
-
Doesn't look like anything in there regarding a BIOS update, except maybe the ATA-8 protocol requirements. Dunno how to know what is supported in my controller (the ICH-10) Does anyone know anything about ATA-8 protocol and how to tell if your system supports it?
-
I think I'll let several people test and feedback on this before trying it out
-
Sorry guys. I had to correct my post above. I am using the desktop version with success, not the ThinkPad beta. The ThinkPad version had the same issues as the 11.5 beta.
-
Great Mr Fox so trim is finally working on Raid 0 with 11.1 desktop... There's been no confirmation via trim command to check it's status? But there has been a noticed improvement in performance reovery of the drives?
-
Works great for me too and the app is also working well.
I have Dell M6600 ,2920XM 2Xliteon ssd -

Sorry, should've been more clear. I'm trying to find evidence that while TRIM support in RAID-0 is available in these drivers, what is required of the BIOS?
See http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/660167-raid-what-heck.html#post8492650 for the original question. For all I know, all the drivers require is a BIOS which supports AHCI/RAID, of which most RAID capable lappies already do. -
Maybe chacking the speed degrade with time . -
There isn't any way to check that TRIM is working that I know of.
In the end, I think it doesn't hurt to have the latest stable Intel RST drivers installed. -
-
Are you referring to Intel RST 11.1 or 11.5 alpha/beta? As far as I know, the above should refer to RST 11.1 which is available on the Intel website and signed as WHQL at least. Release notes for it (which I could only find on that station-drivers site) label it as a "production version."
-
Yes to both.
I'm showing the latest release of Intel RST is 10.8.0.1003. Do you have a link from Intel's site for 11.1 and that its status is "released" not Beta? -
Driver: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=20984
Release notes: Intel® Rapid Storage Technology
In comparison, 11.5 Alpha is marked as such: http://www.station-drivers.com/telechargement/intel/sata/11.5.htm
Unfortunately, that is about as official as Intel RST 11.1 gets at the moment. -
Thanks for the link.
TBH, I'm staying where I'm at until they update that release. I'm to much of a sissy to try the drivers for an "Intel Desktop Board" on my laptop. -
I unboxed a new Dell XPS 8500 yesterday and it came with 11.0. I was so excited, thinking Dell contained something brand new, but noooo...11.1 is actually the latest! -
The RST 11.1.0.1006 version for desktop boards is working without any issues whatsoever. The 11.5 beta had some problems with my HDD being misidentified as a removable device in the "safely remove hardware" tray app.Attached Files:

There is this from the HELP content in 11.1.0.1006:
"Our application also provides support for the following features:
• Password-protected disks
This feature provides high-level security and protection for the data on your disks with a password, denying access from any unauthorized user.
• Trim (Microsoft Windows 7* only)
This feature provides support for all pass-through solid-state drives (SSDs) in your storage system that meets the ATA-8 protocol requirements. Also, support is provided for SSDs that are part of a RAID 0 array. This feature optimizes write operations, helps reduce device wear, and maintains unused storage area on devices as large as possible." -
Anyone know the answer?
Also, if more and more people are brave enough to try the 11.1 Desktop board drivers on their laptop mobos, do you mind posting your controller type (i.e. ICH 10) and your experience? TIA. -

I've always used the same set (whichever they are) and installed them on both my desktops and laptops. Never had an issue with any of them (using the older 10.8, of course).
So far, no issues with the one laptop (my M18xR1) that I put 11.1 on. -
I didn't either, lancorp. I was surprised at the "desktop version" as well.
My system is still working flawlessly and it appears the TRIM is working. My SSD RAID0 set up has gotten progressively faster over time since installing 11.1. Especially with incompressible data and 4K transfer speeds. My SSD RAID0 setup is now performing much as it did with a new Windows installation.
For the lame Agility 3 SSD, these results are not too bad. Before installing 11.1 the results were absolutely shameful with compressible and 4K on "dirty" drives.
-
Mr fox I'll try these fairly soon and report back... Do we install the driver during windows install where it let's you set up your hard drives?
-
did you ever try residual? I kinda want to add another ssd.
-
I'll be doing it in next few days. I had parts repaired just wanted to be sure the system is running fine so I know issues are seperate. Is Mr.Fox the only other one with this loaded?

Intel Rapid Storage Technology Console with Device Driver for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit), Vista (32-bit, 64-bit) and XP (32-bit, 64-bit) - ThinkPad W510, W520, W530, W701, W701ds
^ Here's another one released by Lenovo for some of their laptops and not marked as alpha or beta.
Date seems to be newer than the Intel RST 11.1.0.1006 for desktop boards, but the version number seems to mark it as older (11.0.5.1001).
The help file still mentions that TRIM is supported for drives that are part of a RAID array. -
just a verification
i plan to do this on desktop
whats the latest version for desktop?
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=20984
i plan to use 2x120gb vertex 3'z
So how do I install? RAID in BIOS, then do I install os normally, then install intel RST, or do I have to insert a floppy to select driver during the win7 install? -
-
I'll be doing the install soon. Can I use a usb drive to load the raid driver during windows install at the hard drive config step? Haven't done this in awhile. Do I insert usb drive from start or wait till I get to that step so HD drive letter is unaffected?
-
-
Great thanks that's great to know! Thanks a lot.
-
Just did RAID 0.
To be safe, in the install, I put a usb drive with the drivers anyway. Then I hit load driver from usb and it detected it.
Windows detects SSD, installed RST.
GOTTA GO FAST
2x120gb vertex 3'z
RAID:
non raid
Also it saw my drives fine even with RAID, and not loading the driver. But you probably should just anyway. -
one more thing, windows will still defrag your hard drive on a weekly base, better disable that.
However trim is still operating
C:\Users\JigglyWiggly>fsutil behavior query DisableDeleteNotify
DisableDeleteNotify = 0
C:\Users\JigglyWiggly>
C:\Users\JigglyWiggly> -
Is your SSD RAID array actually listed under: Disk Defragmenter-> Configure schedule-> "Select disks"?
Also, DisableDeleteNotify unfortunately won't tell you if the drivers are passing TRIM commands. TRIM might be enabled, but you won't know if it working or not. -
hey guys there seems to be a new ROM for the Intel SATA chipset 11.5.0.1347 as listed on station-drivers:
intel drivers pour Raid/Sata/Ata/Ahci
Any way we can try flash it onto our mainboards?
Also please for the love of god don't try install 11.5.0.1171 beta. I did and it changed my drives to SCSI??? and froze it up very often. And launching HWinfo resulted a restart. -
WhatsThePoint Notebook Virtuoso
The Vertex 3 are Sandforce 2281 SSDs and get better numbers setting CrystalDiskMark to 0-Fill 100% compressible data rather than using the default 100% incompressible data.
Non Sandforce controllers do better at the default setting.
Intel RST 11.5.0.1171 is the newest beta
intel drivers pour Raid/Sata/Ata/Ahci -
someone willing to try those drivers? I'm a bit hesitant of 11.5

that's a relief ;> -

Did you benchmark in that order? (drivers from oldest to newest)
Could you also try that 11.0.5.1001 driver which is most recent stable driver (by date)? -
WhatsThePoint Notebook Virtuoso
I only found 11.0.5.1001 on station-drivers.It's not on Intel's downloads.
Version 11.1.0.1006 is newest Official WHQL.
But here it is.Lower score than the others.
BTW,after I did this benchmark I updated my Anvil Storage Utilities to RC2Attached Files:
