    Hi

Everywhere insists that this model has 2 RAM slots.

One is in the back where you would expect, however the other one is not to be found.

I have looked under the keyboard and I can't see it there either.

Can anyone help me as to where else it could be and how to open the laptop to that point?

Mate, your computer's serial stickers are (no longer) showing.. :D

also, are you sure that that one memory slot isn't actually 2 stacked on top of each other?

Your laptop may only have one memory slot in it.

The second slot may be underneath that metal panel which is under the keyboard. The only way to know is to further disassemble your system

Let us know if you find the other one, or if there is another memory slot.

OK, will take a look, I am sure the first one is only one slot....but will take another look.

How do I disassemble this system?
I have all screws removed but just don't seem to be able to open it up....

Cheers for your responses guys :)

It should be undernearth the one you are showing us like namaiki said. You can actually put 2 modules there. The one you have put one RAM stick is the upper slot.

My bad, but thats just how it is on my computer, so I was hoping it would be a simple installation.

Mate, could you put your computer back together and run CPU-z on it and check how many ram slots it reports? Open CPU-z and click SPD, and there is an option to pick which slot you want to view the info of, on mine I have 2 slots and one says DDR2 and the other reports empty (accurate).

Hi mate, no worries. I thought there was two slots there when I first looked, but then realised it was only one.

Thats when I started searching around, found some are under the keyboard and looked there lol.

I am talking to you from the machine itself now and I have ran CPU-Z and I have the same as you. Slot 1 = DDR2, 1gb. Slot 2 = Empty.

    Thanks again for your time,
    Dave :)

Sorry mate, your computer only has one RAM slot.

    link

Your computer is also known as the uniwill u50si1 or advent 5311/5421 (not sure which one but both models only have one RAM slot).

The specs are different, but the computers use the same motherboard, chassis. Basically only the branding is different, because the processor, ram, hard drive are swappable on most computers.

    May I ask why CPU-Z shows 2 then? :S

Not very reliable, neither are these websites that sell the RAM, might email them and correct them using the info you have found. Misleading people is never good for business! lol

    Cheers,
    Dave

No idea why CPU-z says two slots...

I read this thread and had this feeling of deja-vu.. might as well save you the trouble of opening up your pc any further.. and this thread helps also.

CPU-Z does not read the number of memory slots properly. For example it reads that there are 4 memory slots in my D900K and there are only two.
On my ASUS quadfather board CPU-Z reads 8 slots when there are only 4.

Yours reads 2 slots because CPU-Z has a hard time actually stating how many their are.

Most chipsets support and use 2 memory slots, but a very few only use 1 slot.

CPU-Z is not very reliable in terms of knowing how many slots you have, it is even faulty in getting accurate temperature readings in your system..

    CPU-z doesn't read CPU temperature.

Hi, I have an Ei system 3083 notebook. I have tested the maxi RAM and asked someone. It says that it have two slots. The same thing happened. I can't find the 2nd slot. someone told me it is under the keyboard.

could anyone tell me how to remove the keyboard? I Tried to remove the screws and clips near to the screen. however, I still can't not take away the cover near to the keyboard.

    Could anyone help me?

    Thanks
