This is a question for those who buy replacement LCDs, what is the most trustworthy website to buy from? A lot of them seem like scams and I don't want to hassle with returns? What website can you guys vouch for?

Ebay......
-
Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
I buy all my LCD's from blisscomputers.net very professional company. My coworker and I buy all our LCD's from there.
-
LAPTOP LCD SCREEN FROM $44. HP ACER TOSHIBA DELL APPLE COMPAQ. Notebook screen, laptop display, notebook lcd, laptop tft, screen DELL, ACER lcd, screens SONY, lcd DELL, ACER lcd.
However any lcd place it pays to find out the exact model number before you buy -
I got my Asus VW24GH from NewEgg, it is a budget LCD but I have been very impressed with the product. And NewEgg has never let me down before.
-
Not everyone is aware that was a joke. Can't stress this enough!!That's because Newegg (along with Amazon) is one of the top most trusted sites in the business. It's hard to go wrong if you buy from either of them.
-
It is not a joke.
I think he means replacement laptop LCD screen, not external LCD. But yeah, that is where I bought mine too. -
In that case, nothing could be further from the truth. You may get exactly what you ordered from ebay, or you may get a box of nothing. Ebay is a hit or miss website at best.
-
Your slanderous remarks simply serve to show how little you actually know about it.
-
On the contrary, not slander; and I would not make such a statement unless I could quote a source or had empirical or personal experience. In this case, it is the latter from which I speak. I have purchased many products on ebay.
-
ok well the link I gave you should be about your bargain basement price. beating ebay by 20%
however their website obfuscates the model you end up buying.
Heres a good example because its mine:
g73 comes with 2 wuxga screens. One is an auo one is a hanstar. Most people dont like the hanstar so I dont want it
My g72 has a super nice lg 1600 x 900 screen. So I dont want to buy the lcd by the model it goes by I want the specific maker and model. Screen country doesnt offer you that information... either does ebay. -
Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
With my site you can email them and ask for specific screens you want or don't want.
-
Look, moral of the story is that there are multiple sources to get replacement LCD's, all with their pros and cons.
I've had over 300 separate purchases on Ebay over the last ten years. I've only really been burned on one purchase. However, under today's regulations that would not have been possible. There are many reputable vendors on Ebay and Ebay usually has very competitive prices. -
As Trottel stated in the first reply; Ebay!
@ Krane; there is nothing wrong with ordering stuff via ebay. I used to think like you, and had that negative outlook; but all you have to do is be smart when doing ANY form of online purchasing.
With regards to Ebay; Use the filters and buy only from 'Top -Rated' sellers. You do that and your chances of getting burnt would be very, very slim. -

CCFL backlit LCDs are totally standardized. There is NO reason to look for any branded LCD whatsoever if you need a new CFL backlit screen. Literally every model that has the same aspect ratio and connector will work.
The best I've been finding lately are Samsung LTN154P2. 15.4" matte WSXGA+. I keep getting slightly blemished models and getting refunds for them, I've gotten 2 for 20$

false different makes and models have widely different quality
my example is very common
two lcds sold at the same time in the same model have different qualities.
one exceeds the quality one is below it as far as backlight brightness and viewing angles
ive found from experience that
LG CMO and SHARP have consistant top quality if you have to guess by brand.
Im personally on a search for the very best 17.3 led wuxga screen model I havent found it... -

No not false
Most people who need a replacement LCD have broken their existing one.
You're saying they should do days of research on viewing angles, brightness, and color clarity while having no usable laptop?
If anything, it is a falsity that most people want to spend the time doing that! -
I bought 1 from eBay from a user named "laptopscreen1". It came in exactly as described, bran spankin new and worked perfectly. It was a replacement screen for my old Dell XPS m1330 that my sister broke in half. It was a CCFL screen and looked pretty decent. Yeah.
I would like to point out to this thread for another opinion: http://forum.notebookreview.com/lenovo-ibm/531808-affs-boehydis-hv121wx4-120-70-a.html . Apparently they sell screen compatible panels, which they tell you with a size-1 font. Not my cup of tea. -

Yea, you have to get used A+ LCDs. You can easily hold the seller to the model number and condition.
These guys are great. Sony FS840 FS550 FS660 Gloss 15.4" LCD TX39D80VC1GAA - eBay (item 270667515368 end time Dec-01-10 15:22:53 PST) This one has dual CCFL backlights. You can tell they aren't making that up too

Google the screen model " B173HW01 V.4". -
I didn't say that there was anything wrong with it, I simply object to the notion that it's the best place to buy. In fact, is it's full of unscrupulous individuals who can't wait to deceive the buying public.
Unlike highly rated and reputable online merchants like B&H, Amazon and Newegg, who have well established reputations for consistent and reliable customer exchanges, some of the second party merchants on ebay are nothing more than electronic snake oil salesman.
That said, the only difference between what you said and what I said, is that my warning is a lot more straight forward. I also agreed that there are bargains to be found there. -
thats the auo screen in the g73
I have a feeling a better panel exists from lg or cmo somewhere -
And there in lies the potential to deceive the consumer. Impulse or desperation buying creates a sales strategy (of ALL vendors) that goes back centuries. Hopefully this thread (at least for those who are smart enough to log on to this site), can serve to mitigate that to some measure.

Chi Mei N173HHE-L11 LCD Screens, $156 retail price.
heres a model that looks promising. Im not aware of any laptop that is using it at the moment or any owners
AU Optronics B173HW01 LCD Screens, $156 retail price.
heres the auo for comparison, same exact specs as far as brightness. I havent ever looked at it and aparently a lot of people love it.
As a matter of fact its possible the auo is better than the cmo version. I just have found from experience that the cmo screens are usually top notch and better than auo screens.
Its sort of like auo is mcdonalds they make 10 billion and cmo is the local burger shack they make a few.
http://www.lcds4less.com/LG_Philips-laptop-lcd-screens/LP173WF1.shtml
here we go. Its very likely sager notebooks use this one
and heres the largely disliked hannstar
http://www.lcds4less.com/HannStar-laptop-lcd-screens/HSD173PUW1-A00.shtml
those are all the ones Ive found for my research now they all have the same stats. I just have to figure out which is better.
I dont want to generalize but people who hate backlight bleeding like lg screens better.
people who like bright like auo screens. anyhow theres millions of screens. Strangely in this size there are no samsungs.
my g72 has a lg 1600 x 900 screen and its very nice with remarkable horizontal viewing angles. It is only 220 nits however so it lacks in : resolution and brightness. Other than that its super nice with no bleed or anything.

Any opinion on Hitachi?
I just bought a dual CCFL Hitachi screen and I'm thinking of transplanting a WSXGA+ panel into the dual backlighting frame.
I wonder how good the WXGA panel it comes with is? Maybe its IPS or something
BTW I have that g73 AUO screen. Someone here sold it to me for really cheap.
Yeah, I have no reason to start trying to control the minds of consumers.
Actually I consider anyone to be stupid if they dont know the real value of something important they use regularly. As long as one knows the value of their entire laptop and can get a reasonable idea of where that value lies, they will happily never buy a crappy, standard 15" WXGA for over 75$. -
hitachi is in sony laptops.
well its ccfl and lower resolution. its old tech but it was in nice screened sony models I dont have any memorized.
Last years and older models. the dual ccfl isnt that exciting anymore.
Hitachi is a very top quality name in general almost anything they make is top shelf.
