    Hi all,

    This question is naturally more for people in the European Union (or its surroundings, like Switzerland and Norway). I know that in the US it's much cheaper to upgrade RAM and hard drive on your own than through your laptop OEM. Americans typically suggest www.newegg.com or other similar websites to buy these components.

    I'd like to know of similar websites in the European Union. So far, I've browsed through Amazon (the UK, France and Germany websites) but the prices seem a bit high compared to the US. Where do you all buy your components?

    Thanks in advance!

    Don't you have any direct suppliers of parts in EU? Search your local blogs and forums, I'm sure there are importers who can give more competitive prices than those you found on "big" time sites.

    Thanks! I took a brief look at these two sites and the prices are more reasonable :)

    The EU probably has those suppliers, I just don't know them. And I am searching forums -- there are plenty of Europeans here at NBR :)

    Well, here in Finland basically none of the suppliers/importers do not sell directly to end users, they only sell to the retailers. Some retailers also import (grey market) stuff themselves and sometimes it causes funny issues with warranty repairs :p

    One reason that suppliers don't sell directly to end users are local consumer protection laws. They rather sell to the retail market and let retailers then worry with customers :p

    Lucky for us there's some rather cheap webshops in central europe that sell hardware cheaper than local retailers, even after mailing costs. I often use www.geizhals.at/eu to check prices from several shops, some of them sell cheaper than Finnish importers/suppliers.

    I used to use Komplett although they have now stopped selling to UK.

    Play.com does not sell electronics, toys etc outside UK :( That includes computer components. Their prices in movies and games with free delivery are another thing, I warmly recommend to check that site :)

    http://pixmania.com is also quite popular but it has seen some negative comments for not handling warranty repairs or exchanges, money returns well enough. Personally I wouldn't buy a TV from there but something less expensive maybe.

    I got the same problem, I want to buy an QX9300 to my system. But I don't want to order from newegg or something wich is based in US.

    @John Ratsey
    Komplett, has changed a during last years. I have bought some other things from they before. But now most of the feedbacks are negative. We got multicom.no there you can costumize laptops, but you can't buy parts :(...

    By the way, HerrKaputt are you from Norway ?
