Hello folks, I am leaning toward the 750GB WD Scorpio Blue WD7500BPVT
Is there anything bigger or better (or both) available in 9.5mm hight and 2.5" form-factor?
Thanks

There is the Seagate 7200RPM 750GB model we're waiting for (3+ months) now.
But, I wouldn't necessarily think it would be 'better'.
Unless it is similar to an XT Hybrid - currently only 500GB.
Is the Blue available to you now? What would that cost? And... why do you need that much capacity? (Video?). -
If you're not looking for performance the WD7500BPVT is a good choice.
If you want something faster: Seagate 5400.6 640GB or Samsung HM640JJ (7200rpm). -
Video storage (dump from camcorder + pictures) for my trips.
Currently you can buy this in EU for roughly EUR 105-115 -
Since we are talking just storage there is no real need for an extremely high performance drive. Especially if we are talking just a USB 2.0 interace for loading the files off to the computer.
Now if you are talking about editing off of the drive and or batch proccessing you may want to look at 7,200 RPM or higher performance drives. You especially would want t look at high performance drives if it is too be a single drive system as when you start really loading up the drive it can affect performance of the system dramatically.
In the end though with the "DUMP" capability you have to look at the intended interface. USB 2.0 just will not saturate even a 4,200 RPM storage drive but if you intend ESATA or USB 3.0 you could benefit from a high performance drive.......... -
Do you want to go internal or external? If you're going to dump it onto your desktop for coding, an external would save you a step.

For convenience, the WD 1TB My Passport Essentials is an awesome drive. Sometimes you can get a good deal on it too.

Thanks for the suggestions.
It is for storage only (and maybe play) - no editing.
The idea is to have a compact unit, rather than 1000 separate pieces: one laptop, which is for email, skype, storage/dump and that's it. No external drives, no extra cables, no extra whatever.
I see the WD Scorpio Blue to be an excellent candidate for the internal solution. Will go for it
Thank you
