The fastest available speed is up to 3Mb/s. That's why bluetooth at the moment is really meant for lower speed devices. However, since you are going to get one, might as well get a 2.1 with EDR. The 2.1 standard is newer and makes some pairing improvements over 2.0.

It takes about 10 days or so to get them from Deal Extreme, but yes, they do ship worldwide for free. I've purchased several of them. While I have been able to sync cell phones to a computer with them, I have NEVER been able to get one of them to work with any BT mouse I've tried them on. The mice will work with the dongle they shipped with, but they won't connect to those dongles from DealExtreme for me or any of the people I've given them to.

I have ten of them sitting in a drawer and have tried them all.

What did you have to do to get them to recognize a bt mouse?

Since these dongle uses texas instrument chipset, it's automatically recognized by Windows 7 and the drivers are automatically downloaded. After that, just pair the bt mouse without using pairing number.

Well I have an old Palm Treo 680 and the software doesn't support USB transfer because I'm running Win7 64-bit, so the alternative to that is bluetooth. I use it as an ebook reader.

Thanks for the link to that pico dongle, that's real sexy :O But I'm usign it on my desktop so I'd like to save the money :)

Installing the dongle isn't the problem. Getting them to pair with a BT mouse has been the problem.
