I am going to phone Alienware tomarrow and see if I am able to get a MXM 3 card other than the X1800 mobile which I currently have.. and is malfunctioning. :(

I will either go for the X1600 Mobility or 7600 Go... and see if I can get a second hdd with caddy to fill the empty bay in this notebook.

How are failure rates with the 7600 series, and temperatures?

temperatures would be alot lower then the X1800 for sure. If you could get a x1600 and fit it with a x1800 heat sink then there surely would be no problems. But I dont think you will get anything like that. I dont think they make midlevel cards for MXM slots.

The m57xx chasis is also made with x1400 and 7600 cards. So that should not be a problem. AW offers the 7600 if I'm not mistaken, so they should have stock.

Apparently if you change the ram or CPU without notifying Alienware your warranty is void.

    I'm SOL now.

    Hi Stevil,

If you can't call warranty on your x1800, drop me a line. I have a few in stock.

They can "overlook" changing the ram, but not the CPU.

Replying to your PM Ice-Tea, thanks ;)
