I don't think the G6 has an MXM graphics card, it's probably soldered. That being said you could probably change out the whole motherboard, but it would be $$$.

HP rarely mades their GPUs modular ... and when they do the ONLY time I've ever seen them do it they do it in the business models. When they are not modular the only way to upgrade the GPU is to replace the entire motherboard that has the upgrade soldered onto it.

Also see here. Same question on another forum.

Hime and Greg are spot-on about the GPU. Unless you happen to buy a very high-end gaming laptop (like an Alienware m17x or m18x, Clevo-based laptops, etc) or workstation-class laptops (some Dell Precisions, HP Elitebook w-series. My W520 doesn't even have MXM), then your GPU will be soldered to the motherboard. Even if you could, the GT 520M is an awfully weak GPU as is.

It'll be more worth it to sell your laptop and use the money to help fund for a stronger laptop. A HP dv6z with A6 APU, Radeon 7670M, and 1080p (better than then 768p display you currently have) will run you $650 from their website right now. Pretty high value-per-dollar if you ask me. GPU is still soldered to the motherboard, however.
