Out of these 2 HD which one has faster transfer access speeds.
Seagate Momentus 5400.6 500GB ST9500325AS
WD Scorpio Blue 500GB WD5000BEVT

I suggest you find the spec sheets online - they would be available for these drives, as for any other current drive...

the wd500bevt should beat the 5400.6 by 2-3ms
-
The seagate has very high seek times, which kills the IOPS the harddrive can do. The WD will be the faster drive because it has faster seek times. I think the seagate has 20ms, and the western digital has 17ms. Its a pretty substantial difference.
Another option can be the Hitachi 5K500.B I have not seen it available anywhere but it should fair up well with the western digital.

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
HD Tune: ST9500325AS Benchmark
Transfer Rate Minimum : 38.7 MB/sec
Transfer Rate Maximum : 80.1 MB/sec
Transfer Rate Average : 63.3 MB/sec
Access Time : 19.0 ms
Burst Rate : 51.7 MB/sec
CPU Usage : 8.3%
And here is John Ratsey's review of the WD5000BEVT:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=307430
The Seagate does indeed have a significantly higher access time, but the WD has a slightly lower average throughput. I don't think either drive is going to be significantly faster in day-to-day operation, but given a similar price point, I'd get the WD over the Seagate. -
So does anyone know the transfer rate of the seagate HD?

I have also compared the Seagate with the WD.
According to SiSoftware Sandra, the Seagate is fractionally ahead on the overall read performance but is significantly behind on the write performance. See the attached.
