Okey, I am going to upgrade my HD from 320gb to 500gb.
Now my question are:
It is worth it to spent about $50 more to get Seagate 500gb 7200Rpm HD?
I can get about $90 for Western digital 500GB 5400Rpm and $140 for Seagate 500gb 7200Rpm.
Will the speed different is noticeable for 5400rpm vs 7200rpm?
Another question,
If in the future, if I want to change to SSD Drive, do I need special tool to swap my HD to SSD?
-
It is not that noticeable for what I've read, you will notice a real difference b/w a SSD against a HDD. Since I have two HDD bays, I am planning on upgrading to one SSD for the OS and programs and the standard HDD for Media.

Definetly Buy Seagate
I Own WD Scorpio Blue 500GB And It's Loud
But if u have 320GB 7200 rpm dont need to buy 500GB if your 320 is not full
I have 300GB free from my WD 500GB i have few software (not games)
I think home users who not play games will not fill 500GB hdd that they will say: oohh sit, I need more space ...
If u play games of course they filling hd space ... -
I think Hitachi 5K500B is the top 500GB drive at the moment. As fast as the Seagate 7200.4 and lower power consumption than the WD5000BEVT.

is the 5K500B available anywhere yet?
-
Yes it is,
It is $86 at zipzoomfly:

$90 at newegg, but $80 after rebate:

This drive was $120 two weeks ago. It has come down in price quite fast, considering it is the fastest and most power efficient 500gb 5400rpm drive

I got tired of waiting for the Seagate 7200.4 so I bought the Hitachi 5K500.B from Newegg. There must be some serious problems at Seagate. This long delay in releasing the 2nd batch of 7200.4 drives makes me very suspicious.

The Hitachi 500.B is the most power efficient. I think it is slightly noisier than the WD5000BEVT, but I found the latter to be exceptionally quiet.

thanks for the links. I think I'll order on Monday. $90 is too hard to pass up.
Which HD should I get? 500Gb Western Digital 5400RPM or Seagate 500GB 7200RPM?
