I got a laptop exchange on my Inspirion 6400 from Dell today. Some of the components are a bit different and I was wondering which one is better. Items will be written in the order of Hardware on Old-Hardware on New. All information taken from Device Manager

    1. Hard-Drive: Samsung HM120JI - WDC WD1200BEVS-75LATO (both are about 106gb)
    2. Disc Drive: _NEC DVD+-RW ND6650A - Le35070 HER674Q SCSI Cdrom Device and Sony DVD+-RW DW-Q58A (both are listed, I only have 1 cd/dvd drive)
    3. Processor: And finally, the new one has dual T2250 processor (1.73ghz) and the old one a two T2050 (1.6ghz)...we all know which one is better...right...

Post if any other info is needed. There may be more differences, so i might update soon. Your comments are appreciated!

1.Hard-Drive: Samsung HM120JI (since I am using this & it is working well)
2.Disc Drive: _NEC DVD+-RW ND6650A (I don't like Sony since some of my friend's sony disc drivers ware 2 bad)
    3. Why not use Core 2 Duo T5600 or T7400?

it was a free exchange cause my old one was a little messed (some of it was my fault). And I have a budget so I didnt get the T5600/7400. For the hard-drives, both are 5400rpm?

I really dont feel like complaining (though it wont make a difference, ive already called dell support like 20 times and im going to have to again for instructions on returns) so ill probably just take the new one. The old one is messed up anyways so i dont have a choice.

I don't think you can use a SCSI CD drive. Go with the first one.

If your computer came with a Core 2 Duo T2050 or T2250 you cannot put in a Core 2 Duo because of the difference in FSB.

Spindle speed of a hard disk isn't as important as the cache, so if you can find one with a 16 MB cache that would be the best.
