Which Intel notebook that can use PC2-6400 and run at 800MHz full speed? My Sony FZ notebook is preinstalled with DDR2 PC2-5300 (667MHz). Is there any chance that if I install PC2-6400 RAM, it will run at full 800MHz bus speed?

No Intel notebook, with a mobile processor, can run 800MHz RAM. Those that can are using desktop processors, and are 17+" and like 1.5-2" thick.

I think Centrino 2 will be able to...

Thanks. According to the Intel spec I have just found, http://compare.intel.com/pcc/showchart.aspx?mmID=28117&familyID=7&culture=en-US , the GM965 Express chipset that I have is compatible with both DDR2-667 and DDR2-533 MHz. DDR2-533 is slower but it has faster latency (CL=4) while DDR2-667 MHz is faster but has slower latency (CL=5). Which RAM is going to give me overall faster performance?

They're basically tied for performance, unless you have a lot of high-bandwidth operations going on - then 667MHz RAM wins by a little bit. Go with the cheaper option IMHO.

I was looking for this EXACT answer as Crucial lists the PC2-6400 as an option for the FZ.

Yeach, they try to sell us more expensive RAM for no added benefit whatsoever. Crucial told me they should run at full speed but after checking with this board and Intel Official Spec, I think they are wrong.
