Isn't the DELL CCFL also. I was going to buy a 2408wfp money is tight now. They have gotten a lot of the lag issues down on it.

Go for the Dell screen. I have the E248WFP in my college dorm room, and it is a great screen. AT my architecture internship we had the 2408WFP ultrasharp screen and it was really nice. I really cannot tell much of a difference at all between the two, other than mine was like $300 less and it doesnt have the media card reader and USB ports. I have the 5 year warranty on the panel, and Dells replacement plan is actually really good, (not sure if it is in Australia)
Here is my review of the e248wfp, maybe it can give you some ideas as to what the 2408wfp offers. After using both screens, I find it hard to tell the difference, so hopefully my review is a bit helpful.

Cnet has a review of the 2408wfp screen, so you can compare their:

Great question.
I believe the HP unit is supposed to be superior is just about everyway. And it's a S-IPS which is supposedly better for photo editing?
Anyone know if the Dell with the SD card reader can be used as a giant photo frame?
Thanks,

For those interested, after almost a year's wait, I finally got the LP2475w. It is the best monitor out of the 3 (from online user reviews and feedbacks) and it also happens to be the cheapest with my EPP discount.
-
What was the final price? That is exactly the display I'm looking at getting for home use with my new notebook.
-
With EPP, the HP comes down to about $700 and it is the best screen of the 3. The colors are very nice after some calibration, no lags/ghosting, no dead pixels and very nice viewing angles. Certainly saves me the trouble of the Dell, but Dell's monitor replacement policy is much better than HP's (new rather than refurbished within warranty period).
