I'm in the market for an external 3.5'' NAS enclosure and a hard drive. I'm getting a 400-500GB E-Sata or IDE ( can't seem to find any NAS external enclosure that supports SATA, only IDE so far ). It's not a big deal though. It's going to replace the on in my sig. cause I'm selling it.

I'm looking for something less than a $100 for the enclosure, has ethernet port, aluminum, good build, USB or Firewire connection, something that I can hook up to my wireless router and keep it there instead of carrying it with me in my house, to be able to broswe the files wirelessly. It has to have the option to power down after being idle for sometime and turn itself on when I browse local drives in windows browser, i.e. I don't have to power down/up everytime I need to use the thing. Thanks, but the first one is way out of my budget. I'm not looking for something that can take 2+ hard drives. It has to have the power saver option though, the enclosure in your second link doesn't have.

I browsed Newegg and the two enclosures you posted are the only two that fit your needs. It seems NAS enclosures are rather hit and miss, judging from reviews posted on Newegg. If I was looking for a NAS enclosure, I'd have to have one that had gigabit connection speed, otherwise it wouldn't serve my purposes fully.

I use an older PC with four drives networked up to my router via gigabit. I then map the drives as network drives on my other PCs throughout my apartment. It works very well.

The reason I'm selling the one in my sig is to get another one with bigger size, ethernet port and a power down option after being idle for few minutes is so I can just throw it next to my router, broswe it wirelessly, to be able to throw it in my notebook carrying case with me when traveling, and to shut itself down after it finishs whatever task it was doing i.e downloading something, video encoding...etc. You see, I hate leaving the thing ON all night, and I want to be able to access/turn it off without having to do it manuall everytime I want to use the thing. I have a Seagate external HDD Enclusore that has that niffty power saver option, I want to combine that with the ethernet port, so I can be happy.
I remember checking out a manufacture website that offer those options in a nice/cheap enclosures, but I can't remember the **** URL though. Funny thing is that I always find everything I want in newegg or zipzoomfly, but not this time I guess.
