Which Ram is better 1gb at 987mhz or 1.5gb at 533mhz or even 667mhz?
Thx?

all are ddr2

The more RAM the better. The timings are normally lower on 533mhz, making them the cheapest, and also the best bet.

Get 1.5 GB. The extra space is more important than a negligible(if any) gain you will see running faster RAM. 667MHz RAM is faster, but has higher latencies while 533 is slower, it has lower latencies. You will not notice a difference between speeds, you will notice a difference between 1 and 1.5GB

um...Won't the front side bus speed of your centrino 1.83ghz @ 667 mhz negate any advantage of your ddr2 clocked at 987 mhz? In my understanding, the purpose of the FSB is to connect the CPU to the system memory...so it's pretty useless to have ddr2 clocked at more than 667mhz. In addition, the rule of thumbs is always "more ram is better than fast ram (most of the time)" and the difference in speed is definitely negligible...thus I'd take the 1.5 gb hands down.

Ahhh the Versa series. Now those were some good notebooks back in 1995.
Jack's right about the FSB though, it'll restrict the speed of your 987mhz DDR2 so you will not notice a difference unless your memory has a different CAS rating than the 667mhz.
Just out of curiosity, where and how did you get this RAM? -
ANd Was Installed when i brought for the ram:O -

And don't believe the story that dual channel RAM (which needs two modules the same size) runs faster. There's no significant difference in speed with current Intel mobile chipsets. In my experience (and I have done various tests with different combinations), more RAM always wins over faster RAM (but more and faster RAM would be best).

More ram is better.
I have 1.5gb. Without that extra 500mb, my laptop use would be dodgy to say the least when it enters 700mb free with foobar, firefox and a game running at the same time
Which Ram is better 1gb v 1.5gb?
