I have a PowerPro R 11:36 coming Monday, and am after-thought purchasing a SSD for a boot drive. I'm trying to stay sub-$150 as this will just be a boot/game application drive with all of my multimedia on the 500GB 7200RPM SATA drive that is coming with it. From my very (extremely) limited knowledge about SSD's I found a few that I thought would fit for me:

    New Egg (2 SSD comparison)

OCZ OCZSSD2-1VTXPL120G Vertex Plus 2.5" Solid State Drive - 120GB, SATA II - will there be much of a performance difference for going down to SATA II or any sort of mod needed to get SATA II to fit (I'm guessing they're the same interface)

    Kingston SV200S37A/128G SSDNow V200 2.5" Solid State Drive - 128GB, SATA III, 6Gbps

    OCZ SLD3-25SAT3-120G Solid 3 Series Solid State Drive - 120GB, 2.5", SATA III, 6Gbps

Also...probably a stupid question...but will I need a bracket to install the SSD into the 2nd HDD slot? I'm not putting it in the optical drive. Thanks in advance!!!

Agree with 3Fees. And stay away from OCZ. The 3 he named are good, I don't know about the Kingston. Not saying to stay away from it, I just don't know, but there have been many threads about issues with the OCZ ssds.

Read the Vertex Plus reviews on Newegg. Worst ratings ever.

    Kingston V200 has serious problems.

    Reliable SSDs: Crucial M4, Intel 320 and 510, Samsung 470 and 830.

I think the best value on a 128GB SATA III SSD right now is the 128GB Samsung 830. Its current "everyday" price is $200 flat at Newegg. It also comes with a download code for Batman Arkham City that you can sell for $20-30 on EBay. The effective price of $170-180 is a pretty good bargain if you ask me.

That said, you can get a 128GB Crucial M4 for $200-210 too, depending on where you look. That's not bad either.

Great suggestion! Ordered it and should be here this week. Quick question... will I need some sort of kit to install it into my notebook? I read a review that stated its thin profile may require some sort of notebook installation padding, or is that what the "...along with a drive spacer for laptops with traditional 9.5-millimeter drive bays" does? Thanks again!
