In the process of upgrading my Aero 14 to 1TB. And out of my options I'm looking at a Samsung 850 Evo or the Intel 600p? Its pretty much the tried and true vs the shiny and new.

Now I know the Aero 14 being a thin and light gaming laptop has issues with heat. So how much hotter does the 600p run? And what kind of change in power consumption can I expect? Is the budget nvme option worth it making the upgrade or has the 600p made to many comprises to bring the price down to compete with what the 850 Evo brings to the table?

I can get both for relatively the same price and looking at the reviews just confuses me as some of the more detailed points go a bit over my head. So just curious which way I should go on this upgrade? Any insight would be appreciated.

The Samsung 960 Evo is only about $80-$100 more than either the 850 or 600p, and you'd be getting the best of both worlds, at least if this drive will contain your operating system. If it's only going to be a storage drive, there's no point in going with NVMe.
