My laptop have 2 video cards: Intel HD Graphic 4000 and NVIDIA GT630M?

Normally, the Intel card is set as my default video graphic card. And what I understand is that the Nvidia only runs when the Intel is insufficient.

However, I doubt that way of operation could maximise my graphic performance.

I use graphic softwares and play lots of games. Should I set my NVIDIA GT630 as default and use it all the time (which means I would waste the Intel card?

Could you give me some advices please? Thank you very much

If you have the option of disabling the Intel graphics on your laptop and you don't need the power savings of an integrated chip, definitely disable it, you'll save yourself a lot of headaches that can arise when the Intel chip has the priority.

Aren't those switchable graphics to auto switch which graphics you use based on the apps your using? I think if your graphics aren't switching auto between what apps or software you using something else might be wrong in the configuration.

Optimus had a few hiccups when it was released back in the day of nvidia 525/530/555 graphics cards but all that was sorted and the newer cards it ran flawlessley. BUT there are are a couple of games that dont want to switch so have to be done manually in nvidia control centre.
ive only had problems with titanfall and 1 other game but i cant remember which. otherwise optimus has run perfectly fin for me.

the main question is do you run on battery at all as if yes then leave intel activated as the nvidia will drain the battery very fast.
