Looking to get an external HDD for my new DV7t when it arrives. This will make it easier to transfer a lot of the stuff on my desktop over and safely keep a lot of my data off the laptop.

I've had good luck with SeaGate and Western Digital drives in the past and would feel comfortable with either brand, but am looking for at least 320GB, but 500GB would be best.
    Any suggestions?

I've got the 320GB version of this one. Works very well...only issue i've had with it is when I use a different USB cable with it other than the one it came with it, (have only tried one other cable) my computer doesn't want to detect it. I want to believe that that's due to the fact that that cable is much longer than the one it came with. (Don't know if there's a specification limit in the length of cable that can be used...I guess so) But once you use the same cable it comes with you should be fine.

I use a Seagate 7200.4 250GB in an Antec MX-25 and it has been very good to me.

    Wow. 700 posts already.

I've had a WD passport that has been through a few wars and still going strong. Ive had it for 4 years and never had a problem. The USB power is really nice too!
