Which is better a duo core 2.0 ghz or a Pentium 4 2.88ghz?
I am still unsure about which runs faster. Please explain.

The Core Duo by a long shot. It is going to eclipse the P4 2.8 in both single as well as multithreaded applications. The clock speed is no longer a bar for performance. It is one of the factors but not the definitive one. The Core Duo just has a better architecture.

A review with benchmarks should explain things much better. They compare a 2.1GHz Core Duo and it basically manages to better the Pentium 4 extreme editions, so the 2.8 definately be no match for it.
