Well I have a 22" 1920x1200 monitor that I will hook up the laptop to when im working at my desk and use it as a desktop. The 15" is fine for me to get some portability

Agreed, thank god the Alienware m11x showed the world a 1.3ghz core2duo can be sufficient for running games ^^
I think you can live problemfree (in the gamingworld) for a while with a strong GPU.

I think it's the hype up thanks to Intel, they make it seem like you need it when really, perhaps 1% of people in the world truly need all the power that can be crammed into a 15.4/15.6".

The M11x is passable, but hardly proves that a fast CPU is unnecessary. It's 1.3Ghz CULV even bottlenecks the GT 335M at 1360x768, which really says a lot.

Resolution matters for the GPU, not the CPU. That's why video game CPU benchmarks are always done at low resolution.
Nonetheless, I guess you meant to say that in some situations the GT 335M wasn't the bottleneck even at 1366x768, but that still doesn't mean very much when it might only be certain games, and it doesn't mean much if the bottleneck is at, say, 100fps. Besides, in order to be getting the most bang for your buck you would want your CPU and GPU to each bottleneck around half the time.
