    Neither.

I use G.Skill 8 GB DDR3-1333. Less than $180 with free s/h from Newegg. Been using G.Skill for years in various desktop and notebook systems. I've only had one stick ever go bad--3 years after I bought it, and the company replaced it without question.

To be clear money isn't an issue, and both are $175 with free shipping same as the g-skill ram. Thanks for the post.

Choose based on ease of buying or cheapest price, there is no performance difference between any of the ram selections you are inquiring about.

Laptop ram is a commodity, any name brand will work just fine.

Unless you know of a specific task that requires more than 4GB, you won't even notice a difference between that and 8GB too.

I'm using a program that will load 12 GB of data into the ram and constantly perform operations on it for hours on end. So I'll actually be getting 16 GB of ram, I'm just wondering if it's worth it to chose either of these.

As stated above, brand, speed, and timing, don't matter in any real life situation, so just get any memory with lifetime warranty.

To clarify my post a little more and relate it to what the OP is looking at, I wouldn't buy OCZ because their tech support is not very good. They take a while to respond to inquiries, and they like to blame everything else in your system when it's clearly the fault of their product.

Crucial's support is OK; they're generally good about replacing products, but I've had more than my fair share of their stuff go wrong. A couple memory sticks and compact flash cards went bad.

That's just my personal experience. I'm sure there are a few members on this board who have had bad luck with G.Skill.
