I have bought an ASUS K55A with 1tb hdd. I have bought an M4 256gb SSD to upgrade.
I want to use Easeus software to clone the drive but it says it can only clone a maximum of 4 partitions. the 1TB drive that came in it has 8 partitions by default and I don't know what they are all for and which ones I can get rid of.
1 * Unallocated 1.00mb GPT
2 *:SYSTEM FAT32 300.00mb GPT (EFI system partition)
3 *:Recovery NTFS 600.00mb GPT (Unused Partition)
4 *: Other 128.00mb GPT (Reserved Partition)
5 C:OS NTFS 98.17GB GPT (Data Partition)
6 D: DATA NTFS 812.34GB GPT
7 *:Restore NTFS 20.00gb GPT (unused partition)
8 * Unallocated 711.00kb GPT
Can anyone help me migrate this to my SSD? and delete anything there that I don't need (but keep the standard ASUS recovery in tact in case there are problems in the future?)?
Many thanks![]()

Forget cloning. Period.
Easiest: create or obtain the 'Recovery DVDs' from the original HDD and use them to install to the SSD (this is as 'clean' as possible with 'easy' being the keyword).
Best: obtain (search this forum) the version of Windows you have and do a real clean install of your O/S (use key on bottom of system to activate).
That drive has serious issues - other software (even freeware) may be able to clone that - but WHY?
Good luck. -
Thank you, my preference would be to have a windows dvd that I can use for a clean install but I haven't been able to find one. If I go to microsoft site it says my key is oem so I can't download from them!! I have tried searching this forum but have not found anything. Can you point to somewhere safe to download a proper iso or something that is not a dodgy torrent etc?
Many thanks -
Sorry, should have said it is windows 8 64 bit

Ah, Windows 8 is tricky to download, I agree.
What is stopping you from using the Recovery DVD's - have you even created them yet? -
Not yet, after the above suggestion I would much prefer to have been able to do a clean install, but as I cannot find a decent iso I guess my only remaining option is to create a recovery dvd and try that. Thanks for your help
Which partitions do I need?
