    1.Intel® Core™ i7-820QM Quad Core Processor 1.73GHz (3.06GHz Turbo Mode, 8MB Cache)

    2.Intel® Core™ i7-720QM Quad Core Processor 1.6GHz (2.8GHz Turbo Mode, 6MB Cache)

    #1 is an extra $350.
I will be going to college, but ill also be playing video games. not intensely, but casually. So do i really need to spend the extra $350?

Overall, how much will the performance vary? Will it be noticeable?

You won't notice the difference. There's no point in spending the extra money.

Actually a quad core CPU is way more than what you need. Consider getting a lower end CPU.

i7-720qm is more than enough for games and work.. also consider something other than studio 17 if u can.. Studio XPS 16 is much better and looks cooler..
