I intend to do some video editing, just camcorder input for some "how to" DVDs we'll produce. Which video card is better for this use: 1) NVidia Quadro NVS 160M or 2) ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3670?

    Thanks for the guidance.

Yes, the HD 3670 is twice as fast as the NVS 160M.

The Quadro 160M is based on the Geforce 9300GS, I believe. The ATI Radeon 3670M is an overclocked version of the 3650, so it is, roughly, 2 times as powerful. That said, though, I don't think you need very much graphics power for video editing...

Thanks, everyone for the quick and knowledgeable responses -- which, if either, would be preferable for video editing?

I think the processor is more important but if you do serious photo and video editing take the professional gpu,Quadro 160M

What software are you using? Some require more CPU power than GPU. For those that take advantage of OpenGL, the workstation card might actually be better (NVS 160M, but you might want to upgrade Quadro FX or FireGL). For DirectX, the more powerful card will work (HD 3670).

Which card would be best if I use Adobe products?

Also, most likely I will get a Core 2 Duo, either 2.53 or 2.66.

I think getting a faster CPU will benefit you more than a upgrading the GPU.
