I'm of the definite belief that my lappies having a nervious breakdown, along with my uninstall thing i've just had a rather worring 'white screen of death'. Just about to start playing a game (SiN) and suddenly the screen brightness shot up like someone had replaced the screen light with a spotlight. The bottom of the screen went bright white like a mammoth case of light leakage, then the top corners got brighter. Then as half the screen was crazy lit up, it just rebooted...

What the f*ck? It wasnt a graphical thing, the game was in 4:3 and my lappies 16:10 so i had the black side bars and even they were 'consumed' so what happened? Which particular part of my lappie is coughing blood on me?

    Two randomly stupid suggestions:

Update video card drivers. Get Omega drivers and install them, if possible

    Check gamma correction.

Were you able to play SiN before? Like, have you played it w.o any problems before? Try to look back and think of anything major that might have caused this. You may also want to uninstall and re-install SiN. Steam makes it hassle free after all :p

    Got latest Omegas already.
    Gammas fine.
Steam and hassle free should never be used in the same sentance :p .

    What video card?

I'm running the ATI CCC 6.5's on my x700 and that's happened to me three times now in BF2. I leave my lappy on a lot, so I thought it was a random heat issue the first two times...but the 3rd time, my laptop had been off for over a day, then only booted up for about 10 minutes of web-browsing before launching BF2. It started about 3 minutes into the game. I didn't wait for it to reboot any of the times. As soon as the screen went white, I just shut it down.

I might check out driverheaven.net to see if it's a driver issue?

I've got a 9700 and it happened to me a couple of minutes in, and my first thought too was a heat thing as it does get a little hot now and then.
