    Why Ultraportables not flocking to Core2Duo

    Not a new article but probably a good one to read for all those people complaining why their favorite ultraportable is not moving to Core2Duo already. Simply put, it offers on a small increase in performance, but takes a hit on battery life.

    So if you are not aiming to specialize in photoshop or video encoding on a 10-12" screen ultraportable - which is most people - it simply makes no sense.

    Many of these models -at least the true ultraportables will wait until there is a ULV version available first.

    Yes, I've been curious as for example the 11.1" Asus S6F with a Core Duo processor hasn't been refreshed to a Core 2 Duo yet? And unfortunately, since it uses a LV chip, it is soldered and not socketed onto the motherboard like regular Core chips and so cannot be upgraded to a Core 2 Duo LV processor. :(

    I think we will have to wait until early/mid next year for Santa Rosa to come out and then see ultraportables with Core 2 Duo ULV chips.
