Well i have bough the ASUS G50VT-x2 off newegg, and i have tried playing a dvd-r cd that i have burned with some movies i got while back, but once the laptop reads and asks me how i want to view it, i select folder view. All the files appear with no probs. Since i have vista you can see the folder adress loading a green bar and im guessing is the process it takes to read the cd or w/e and it loads it up fast until near the end and it just stays there with no movement. I try left clikin the video file thumbnail and it legs to load it and when i try running it with media player it doesnt recognize it and it doesnt play it.

The cds have been burned prefectly and it runs on any pc i put it in, i dont know whats up with my laptop =\. I installed games, and ran normal movie dvds and it all works fine.

    Suggestions?

There may be a compatibility issue between the DVD and your drive.

Did you try your burned DVD on another computer?

Yeah, you should definitely try it on a couple of other computers first. If it doesn't cause any trouble there then it's most probably an incompatibility issue with your new laptop. If it doesn't work on the other pcs/laptops either, then the problem is with the DVD itself.

I agree... check with other PCs. Is it a Vista issue? Or XP as well? If it plays on XP, then I'm assuming that you have all the updated CODECS for XP and that's why it plays. On your new laptop, try downloading VLC player for Vista. If your CD works on that, then you know that it's a Media Player issue.

    Check the DVD driver,
    Update drivers if you can,
    Call Newegg.
