Laptop's in my sig, it's coming up 3 years old now.

After a while of the computer being on, they stop working. In Device Manager, they all have a yellow exclamation mark symbol beside them and error code 43 ("Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems").

I've tried updating the drivers, using Windows Update, checking the manufacturer for updates, no joy. I've even tried hoovering(!) out the USB ports, in case of dust or summat. Curiously, if I shut down then start up the laptop again, they'll work. For a while at least..

Dunno if it's related or not, but there's a 'Base System Device'(?) in Device Manager that also has the exclamation warning, and error code 28 ("The drivers for this device are not installed"). Again, updating the driver does nowt.

    Any ideas?

Hmm, well, I have no idea what it is, I do know my X-Fi Go (external USB Soundcard) could kill my USB ports until I restarted...

I think its a bad driver somewhere - once you find it you ideally unistall it and then reinstall it, however I'm not sure how you can easily locate the problematic driver.

    What OS are you running?
Also, see if you can find anything in the error logs.
