Given the advent of the soldered RAM on laptops, and RAM always selling in aftermarket.. and soldered chips not being rocket science, why arent there any shops doing this as a service? maybe add on and become the largest after market RAM reseller?

    Thoughts?

Because the BGA arrays are a PITA to desolder and resolder. Theres dozens of pins, per memory IC to resolder. When demand is higher, I'm sure there will be people who will do it. Just like NAND data recovery nowadays.

There's no market for it. It would be expensive and time consuming. Reality is laptop manufacturers need to stop worrying about getting as thin as possible, and add a RAM socket or two to the motherboard and sacrifice a couple mm. Yes, that is all they would sacrifice in most cases is 1 or 2 mm.
