I will start off with my computer specs. Its a upgraded acer Travelmate 2450 notebook.

    CPU: Intel Core Duo T2450
    RAM: 1.5gb DDR2
    Chipset/video card: ATI Xpress 200m
    Hard Drive: Hitachi 60GB 5400rpm Ultra-ATA/100
DVD Drive: PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-K16RS ATA Device
External DVD Drive: LG External Super Multi DVD Rewriter
    Chipset: ATI RS400/RC400/RC410
    Southbridge: ATI SB400

I have wanted to upgrade my Ram for some time now to 2Gb. I have tried multiple sets of ram. I put 1GB (667Mhz) in each slot and for some reason it never boots. In windows vista it crashes and in xp it boots to the desktop then suffers a faital error and says the program must be terminated and crashes. Each stick of ram works by its self but when 2 go in, nothing works. My bios version is 1.3 and I think this is the highest so I dont no what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated (I bought four 1GB sticks and the money is piling up)!!!

Are you trying all the slots with the 1GB?
have you run memtest on the memory?

Yes, there are 2 slots and both filled with 1 gb. And i have tried each slot with 1 stick in it. Also i am currently running one 1GB stick and one 512MB sitck. For the ram test, i dont think it will help since i have tried many combinations of ram from different companies, but i will give it a try.

While memtest is fine to run, OP is going from 1.5 GB and has 4 1G sticks laying around. So to answer your 1st question yes. And each stick works individually so the benefits of memtest I have doubts especially with 4 different sticks. ;)

Its some kind of incompatability issue I would guess. You may want to see what the max rated ram is for your system, google for any related issues.

Also see if you can barrow somebodies 2gb stick and see if that works with just using 1 slot.

Also even tho you bought 4 sodimms so far, it could just be incompatible with the ICs that ram uses. I went thru like 4 sets of ram before my c90 was happy and I still have not found 2gb sodimms it likes to boot with on battery power.

Fair enough. Just wasn't sure if both slots had been tried with a single 1GB module, thought maybe it was a bad slot (though weird that 512MB would work but weirder things have happened).

Just wanting to see if memtest would show any errors once 2GB is installed, and at what memory addresses. Might be helpful, might not be.

I did the mentest with both slots full and there was an error. What does this mean? Also If i try to just put ONE 2GB stick in my pc will it hurt it if the max ram it can handel is 2GB (1Gb in each slot)? Thanks.

That could be errors from the memory controller or from the memory itself (which is questionable).

I dont think its from the memory cause there are no errors when i do them individually. Also If i try to just put ONE 2GB stick in my pc will it hurt it if the max ram it can handel is 2GB (1Gb in each slot)?
