It is not?
DDR3 should be more expensive. As DDR2 is more popular and more people is buying it = lower prices as there is a bigger market for it.
And what i see, the average DDR2 is cheaper than DDR3 on newegg, i do not know what you're looking at!? -
Yeah, prices usually scale with demand in addition to manufacturing process, etc. You'll find DDR is significantly more expensive than DDR2 though. DDR3 should also be more expensive than DDR2 at the moment.

But eventually it will become cheaper than DDR2, for same reason why DDR2 RAM is currently cheaper than DDR1. Economy of scale, demand, supply.... -
I've read that the manufactures have stopped making as much memory as they use to just to get the prices up again, especially DDR2. So we'll see that memory prices will begin to rise these days that are coming! Even DDR3 prices will rise.
So hurry up and buy if you wanna upgrade cheap! -
Thank you for all your replies. There was very little difference between price but after mentioning the " Supply Demand " etc I now understand the concept behind this
Take care and Happy Holidays!

Merry christmas!

It will start going up as demand switches to DDR3. If you have to get DDR for an older computer it is very expensive. I know I have taken advantage of getting memory cheap or else I wouldn't have 8GB in my desktop.

Why is ddr2 more expensive then ddr3?
