Well i have acer d250 and installed win 7 ultimate in it.More than 80% of my computer usage time, the cpu is 80-100% usage with simple safari (4tabs) surfing, with a song in vlc.I think atom is too weak so it constantly hits 100% usage with petty things! But the thing is that my load temps are about 60C and easily reaches 67-71c during summer.Thats about 3C less than my c2d T7500 uved processor.I dont know whether i m looking at wrong s/w or what. Please help me what to do.BTW i have found conflicting temps with core temp and everest ultimate.Coretemp shows temp of 59c or so,but everest shows 26c.(theres a coloumn in everest saying cpu diode which is about 59c)Does the cpu diode indicates the actual temp?
    Thanks for the help
    Cheers!

I generally dislike the Atom's for that reason. They get hot, really quick. The Z520 is the one I have now, in an MID. It idles at about 28c, and under load goes to about 53c. My older netbook was an Asus Seashell, and that thing routinely got to 80c.

Have you looked in the Task Manager to see what's sucking down your CPU cycles? And yes, the CPU Diode, or Core0 would be the correct temp, as the N270's 2nd core is virtual (hyperthreaded), so there's only one true physical core.

The Atom N270 in my brother's Dell Mini 10v is about that too - mid-20s idle temperature, and rises to up to around 55 degrees max when placed under load (ie, higher quality YouTube videos). Nothing to worry about, and not too much you can do about it (especially on the 10v, which has a fanless cooling system).

Mine is 30ish idle, 50 on moderate load, 70+ under load now that the feet for my netbook have gone missing and the vents are blocked. On the plus side, it has thermal protection built in, so auto-shutoff kicks right when I'm doing something important.
