    Why is my older screen better then the ones now?

    My current Clevo laptop of 2014 has an AUO 72% gamut screen but has a better screen and more vibrant colours than a current gamer laptop that has 72% NTSC. How do you explain that?

    Probably because the current one decided to cut corners. Just panel upgrade. most 144hz panels do well enough better then older panels even.

    There’s more to screen quality than gamut. The finish (Matte vs glossy), the native contrast ratio, the response time, backlight modulation method, greyscale deltas, max brightness, etc. many aspects. Your new display may not be equal or better than the older panel. I’ve been having a hard time finding a LCD better than my M17x RGBled display (which is from 2010) and my M18x (which is from 2012). You have to really dig into specs (on panelook) to get a good idea of what you are getting, and even then screen quality can be subjective to what people want out of a screen.
