You have a service/app running that is eating up one of the cores. Use Task Mangaer, find it, shut that app down.

I'd also suggest downloading and running Process Explorer (link in my signature) and checking if "Hardware Interrupts" is constantly taking up a large percentage of the CPU usage (25%+). That's a problem that comes up occasionally, and usually signifies some sort of driver problem.

It won't show up in the Task Manager since it's not a process, but you can see it with Process Explorer (ironic, I know).

Thanks, I will try this now. I was actually looking through task manager and I stopped all processes except the ones that are absolutely needed so I will try this now. I'll update you guys in about ten min. ;)

edit: just tried ending/killing the process and this pops up. Windows 7 issue? Also how can I keep this process from starting again?

hw interrupts can not be killed, this is the connection of windows to your hw.

and in task manager, all you had to do is sort by cpu usage, and check the process that has 50%.

in your screenshot, nothing is at 50% (and the graph at the top shows your cpu isn't at 50% usage, too)

Actually the problem went away a couple min after downloading and opening the app... But I rebooted and the problem is back... I've done some research and have found that its the audio drivers in HP dv5/dv7 or even more...

Here is a forum link for you guys.
